March 01 2016
In February 29, 2016 the diplomatic salon hosted His Excellency Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, cultural advisor to His Highness the Emir, and the candidate of the State of Qatar for the position of Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization "UNESCO".
His Excellency talked about his initial program for leading the UNESCO, where he pointed out that his candidacy for the position aims to achieving a new breakthrough for UNESCO in order to continue its mission in achieving "cultural peace" through adherence to the "code of shared values."
In this regard, he reiterated that the destructive attacks, which are going on today, of humanitarian heritage in Syria, Iraq and Libya mainly aim to erase the memory of humankind and to shed the barbaric ideology of the extremists who are planning for cultural cleansing. The UNESCO is the rightful and fixed place to formulate laws that protect cultural heritage.
