The Turkish Ambassador speaks at a seminar held by the Diplomatic Institute

The Diplomatic Institute held a seminar on "Turkish-Qatari relations" during which H.E. Mr. Fikret Ozar, the Turkish Ambassador to Qatar, spoke and it was attended by a number of Excellences Ambassadors and participants in the second Foundation Program.
The Ambassador presented a historical overview of the Ottoman-Qatari relations, noting that the State of Qatar has always been independent and never yielded to any authority. H.E. highlighted the strength of the current Qatari-Turkish relations which is dated back to the accession of His Highness the Father Emir in 1995, and have further strengthened with the arrival of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the government, where he keeps brotherly relationship with the Emir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad.
H.E. said that Turkey appreciates Qatar's stance on the failed coup attempt, which was the first country to declare its support for Turkey and since the first moments of the coup. H.E. referred that Turkey backed the State of Qatar in facing the blockade both in terms of approving the military agreement, establishing a Turkish base, and sending food supplies.
H.E. added: we have strong relations; politically and culturally, and cooperation continues in all fields, moreover, there are about 9000 Turks working in different fields in Qatar. H.E. indicated that 30 agreements have been concluded between the two countries,  and ten more agreements will be signed.
H.E. underlined the volume of trade between the two countries in 2016 as mounted to $ 750 m, Turkey participates in 119 Qatari projects worth $18 b, and the Qatari investments in Turkey worth $ 19 b.
