An Australian student delegation visits the Diplomatic Institute

The Diplomatic Institute hosted a student delegation from the University of Deakin, Australia, accompanied by Professor Matt Harry, a lecturer at the University.
Her Excellency Mrs. Nadia Al-Shaibi, Assistant Director of the Diplomatic Institute, met with the delegation and presented an overview of the Institute's specializations. She also explained the functions of the Institute, which include preparation, development and training of the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to work in the diplomatic and consular service. Noting that the Institute cooperates with government agencies and ministries to achieve its goals, in addition, cooperates with local universities and institutes and across the world, as well.
She referred to the training courses the Institute organizes for diplomats who designated for the work abroad as well as training programs for foreign diplomats accredited in the State. She also spoke about the Institute's on-going training programs for new diplomats dealing with various aspects in economy, foreign policy and languages. In addition, she talked about the Diplomatic Salon and seminars usually arranged on issues of diplomatic concern, and courses in negotiation, which are held to improve the negotiating skills of the diplomats.
The delegation made an orientation tour in the Institute's divisions, and visited the library where he saw the titles of specialized books in political affairs, also the Studies and Research Division where a brief presented about its role in studying prevailing issues in politics, social and economic affairs, thus serving as a reference to the decision-makers in the State.
The delegation also visited the training and qualification division and was briefed on part of the workshop held for the trainees enrolled in the Diplomatic Institute.
In addition, the delegation was briefed on the publications of the Institute, including the Diplomatic Quarterly and its topics, which are of interest to researchers, students and what is related to foreign affairs, as well.
The delegation expressed its appreciation and thanks for this briefings which explained the activities and functions of the Diplomatic Institute.
